Phillip Huffines graduated from high school in Dallas, Texas at St. Mark's School of Texas. He then graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas at Austin in 1981 with a BBA in Petroleum Land Management. After working at Getty Oil Company in Houston for two years, he moved back to Dallas and entered real estate. From 1983 through 1989, he and his twin brother, Donald, worked together brokering and developing shopping centers and large land tracts in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. From 1989 through 1991, he managed one of his father's automobile dealerships in Lewisville, Texas, and then rejoined his brother in January 1992 in land development and investment. Phillip and Donald purchased over 2,500 lots and several thousand acres of land from the RTC and various failed financial institutions in the early 1990's. They have assembled more than 70 different limited partnerships and developed numerous subdivisions. Beginning in 1998 they focused on developing large master-planned communities including Waterview (900 acres) in Rowlett, Texas, Panther Creek (1,000 acres) in Frisco, Artesia (500 acres) in Prosper, Providence (600 acres) in Denton County, Savannah (650 acres) in Denton County and Veranda (600 acres) in Royce City, Texas.
Phillip is an active member in ULI and was a panelist in the DFW master-planned community seminar. Phillip is well known as a leading expert in creating and developing financially successfully TND (Traditional Neighborhood Design) communities.
